To Create a Work Order Using a Form

  1. Select File > New > Work Order.

The Work Order form opens in the Content pane.

  2. Fill out the form as needed. The following fields are required: Number, Class, Name, Owner
Note: The attributes below that are marked with an asterisk only display when the work order has been added to the system.

Class The class for the specified work order.
Name A text field used for labelling the work order.
Description A text field used to provide a concise label for the work order.
Priority This is a user-definable priority list which describes the importance rating assigned to the work order. In many cases the list contains such elements as High Priority, Low Priority, etc. however individual companies may modify this to show a 1-2-3 or a-b-c rating system.
Owner The name of the person who owns the work order instance. By default, the creator of the work order is the owner. If ownership of the process belongs to someone else, type in the person code or use the Lookup Up Person icon to search for the person, and then drag the person from the results pane to this field.
Plan Start Date The date the work order is expected to begin.
Plan End Date The date the work order is expected to be completed.

Actual End Date* (read-only) Displays the actual finish date (when the last task in the work order is complete).
Duration (read-only) Displays the sum of all the task durations, calculated along the critical path.
Work Order Status* (read-only) Displays the current status of the work order during its complete life cycle. The possible status value are:
    • Planned
    • Work in Progress

  3. Click the Add icon in the action bar.

The newly created work order along with all available relationship data displays on the screen. The information entered into the work order Name field displays in tab form at the top of the Content pane.

Note: Plan Start Date and Plan End Date are only entered prior to launching the work order. Templates typically do not contain any planned date values. If used, AssetWise can calculate one of the dates by using the entered date and the total work order duration to calculate the other planned date.
